Danita Breeze – Fabric Art and Acrylic Painting

I was born and raised here in the beautiful Lake Chelan Valley. After graduating from Manson High School I spent a few years in Oak Harbor working as a Secretary at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, and then in Stateline, NV working at Harrah’s as a waitress. I then returned home packing apples in the local apple sheds with my family. After packing season was over I joined the Army, spending a short time in Alabama, then in Massachusetts attending school and working in Military Intelligence. While in the Army, I married and moved with my husband to Texas where I had my daughter.  When she was three months old, we moved back to the Chelan Valley, my “home,” and have lived here ever since. I have worked as a waitress at a local restaurant, a graphic design artist at the local newspaper and eventually became a banker, which I did for 20 years.

Art has always been a major part of my life. Throughout the years I found myself enjoying art (and crafts) of many kinds; knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, pottery, scrapbooking, woodworking, sewing, quilting, and most recently, fabric art and acrylic painting.

I consider art and crafts of any type as therapy. When I’m focused on my projects, my art, or creating anything, I feel the most peaceful and content. I’m horrible at following instructions, so most of my works are original designs I’ve first designed in my head. I enjoy that part as much as the actual creating of the project.
