Anne Clausen – Watercolorist and Illustrator

Living with art is my lifelong love. As a kid I wanted a horse. Instead I painted hundreds of horses while growing up in a rural Iowa town.

Although majoring in special education, I took as many art classes as I could manage. In recent years art has continued to play a central role.

Wherever I’ve lived, I’ve painted—the glacial mountains of Norway, the north woods of Minnesota, the magic of San Francisco Bay, the icy blasts of arctic Alaska in Nome, and the cherry trees of Michigan. Here in Washington I’ve lived and painted on the Puget Sound on Whidbey Island, in the North Cascade mountains at Holden Village, and now here amongst the lake, the orchards, and the mountains of Chelan. My most unusual painting project had to be capturing my husband’s fifty state unicycle tour in 2002.
